“Powerhouse Gym in Highland Township is donating the first month's membership fee of any new Electronic Fund Transfer memberships initiated during the month of April to Special Olympics of Milford. The 2009 Milford Special Olympics event is Saturday, April 25. Included with these new memberships is a week with a personal trainer, Beverly Morton, free of charge ($60 value). Powerhouse of Milford has also agreed to receive donations for Special Olympics at the gym, and they intend to solicit volunteers from the community and the gym to assist with the set-up and tear-down for the event. Powerhouse Gym Milford is partnering with Special Olympics in this way because they have always been a community-supportive business. The annual Special Olympics event at Milford High School is a highlight of spring for all of the athletes and the entire community,” said Beverly Morton, personal trainer. ‘This is a new partnership, Powerhouse and Special Olympics, and I am hoping it becomes an annual tradition, and that it benefits these athletes. I have volunteered with Special Olympics before, as I am currently, and I can tell you first-hand: anything that helps Special Olympics is worth doing, especially during these difficult economic times,’ Morton added.”
