“Several health club operators are hoping that Northeast Ohioans are ready to get fit. New clubs are popping up across the region, many aiming to attract new populations of gym members. Body builders and athletes once dominated fitness centers, but now all sorts of people are interested in working out, said John Craig, brand development manager of Planet Fitness, which opened a new location in Rocky River last month. People are becoming more educated about health issues through the government and the media, Craig said. ‘It's almost like a public health movement,’ he said. ‘It's like the anti-smoking crusade of 40 years ago.
