Fitness Centers Offering New Year’s Resolution Deals

“Teresa Carlson, Fitness Plus"We do see an increase in Jan. I would say 50 percent of those people stay, and that's our goal is to try and keep them." There's nothing like no sign up fees, specially priced packages, and designer work out classes to get a body moving. "They always come with a vengeance this time of year." As the economic downturn forces more and more people to cut back on the extras, classes remain full at the Yoga Studio.William "Doc" Savage, Yoga Studio"We haven't really seen a downturn, people have stayed with us. We were a little concerned as the economy started to move, we were a little concerned about our membership falling off, but our members have stayed with us and we've picked up a few new ones." Doc says business started picking up at the end of Dec. "It's that New Year's thing, I've got to try something new, I've got to get in shape, but I think there's still where today is in the world economically, culturally, people are looking for something else, and Yoga brings that to them." Doc says Yoga gives his members a chance to be quiet when everything is else is so chaotic outside the doors. "I think people are looking for a place to escape. Where they can have some times to focus on just themselves, not their family, not their business, a chance to be quiet minute, just let the clutter from the outside just melt away." Whether you’re looking to melt away a little clutter, or a few pounds, it seems like the new year is the smartest way to start. According to the International Health, Racquet and Sports Club Association, Jan. is historically the single biggest month for new membership enrollment at heath clubs.”
