Fitness Class Includes Dance, High Heels

“One look at the footwear worn by the women in the dance studio and it's obvious this isn't an ordinary fitness class. Rather than running shoes, they're wearing high heels. Class originator Shannon Nounna said she came up with the idea for Stiletto Fitness as an alternative to late nights out dancing. ‘Of the women I talked to, they all liked working out and getting together and they all liked being sexy, but there aren't really many places you can go do that unless you go to a nightclub ... A lot of us want to be able to learn sexy moves without having to go out late at night,’ she said. The heels are all about confidence and empowering the feminine side, she said. Throughout March, Nounna's class will run at 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays and 5:30 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays at Smash Studios, 9620 Las Vegas Blvd. South. For $59, women may attend any of the classes all month. Attendees can expect to learn moves that will empower their feminine sides and make them feel sexy, Nounna said. Rather than the traditional jogging or jumping jacks, the Stiletto Fitness routine will include a warm up and lessons on teasing, chair routines and floor routines. ‘It's about being sensual, being sexy and getting a work out,’ she said. After having children and working, Nounna said a lot of women lose confidence. The gist of the class, which typically serves women between ages 20 and 55, is to encourage women to spend some time with their bodies and encourage their femininity, Nounna said. And she ensures that the class will have more than just a mental impact. ‘You'll sweat and you will be sore the next day,’ she said.”
