Next Gen To Rebrand As DLL Ahead Of European Expansion

“London & Regional Properties (L&R) will rebrand all of its Next Generation clubs as David Lloyd Leisure (DLL) sites later this year. In an interview with Health Club Management (July 2008, pp.28-30), DLL’s managing director Scott Lloyd said: ‘We haven’t announced it to our members yet, but we will be rebranding the Next Generation clubs to DLL at the end of the year.’ L&R acquired David Lloyd Leisure in August 2007, merging it with its existing Next Generation chain. Lloyd also revealed that the company was looking to expand its presence in Europe. ‘We see Europe as a growth opportunity for the company; expanding our business there is something we’ll be actively pushing forward as quickly as we can.’ The group currently operates 10 sites in Europe – seven in The Netherlands and one each in Spain (Barcelona), Belgium (Brussels) and Ireland (Dublin). In the UK, DLL has a pipeline of six new sites – all for which the group has already secured planning permissions.”
