Health Club Focused On Bellingham High School Students

“Planet Fitness of Franklin recently established a new scholarship program focused on impacting the lives of local Bellingham High School students. With the mantra, ‘Improving Body Image; Improving Academics: Improving Your Community,’ Planet Fitness, 166 Grove St., recently launched this new lifelong wellness program with the full support of school officials. David Fischer, Bellingham Schools superintendent, and Planet Fitness owner Jonathan Epstein developed this wellness scholarship specifically to help students develop a more balanced lifestyle. Their belief is students who set and achieve their own personal fitness goals will not only improve their own physical development, but also use their successes in the club as a catalyst to impact their own academic performance and their involvement in civic activities. The wellness scholarship is being offered to all Bellingham High School students. The fundamental premise underlying the wellness scholarship is the earlier a young adult embraces fitness as part of their own lifestyle, the more dramatic the impact a successful fitness program will have on all other aspects of their lives. As physical fitness enhances ones body image, so will it impact a student’s self-esteem. Planet Fitness will donate eight annual memberships (four per semester, January and June) to students who have completed a scholarship application and meet the specific academic and civic criterion. One winner will be selected per grade per semester. Students interested in applying for the scholarship must fill out and submit the scholarship application anytime prior to the end of the first or second semester. Two winners from each grade will be chosen by a team of educators from the school and health club management.”
