A Caveman Workout? 'It's Not For Everybody'

“‘Caveman Training’ is the brainchild of Scott Ramsdell, a Minneapolis police officer who moonlights as an athletic trainer. About three years ago, he set up a gym called Athletic Performance Inc. in a warehouse space in Brooklyn Center and focused on a high-intensity, nontraditional workout program that's gained a reputation in the mixed martial arts and muscle and fitness communities as one of the toughest workouts around. Caveman trainers don't wear fur jumpers and wrestle with saber-toothed tigers. But they do swing sledgehammers, flip jumbo-size tires, pull trucks around the parking lot, yank on heavy ropes, schlep rocks, tote sandbags, heave medicine balls, hoist around something called a ‘slosh tube’ and huff and puff on exercise machines while wearing blacked-out gas masks to make their lungs stronger...
