Fitness Fad Catching Up With The Young In Qatar

“Young Qataris are increasingly becoming fitness freaks, if the response to the ‘opening soon’ announcement of an innovative international fitness centre is any indication. Many Young Qataris, including women, are queuing up for pre-registration membership in front of the counter put up by the fitness centre at the City Center. ‘The response from Qatari community has been really encouraging since we opened the advance booking of admissions last week. We are getting a lot of queries from women’, said Manisha Humphrey, Front of House Manager, Fitness First Gym & Health Club. Humphrey said a total of over 1,000 people have already booked their names. Of this, 70 percent are Qataris and less than half of them are Qatari women. Qatari men and women are showing great interest in our specially developed items like Body Jam that enables one to loosen up with the latest music and dance styles. ‘Our specialties include Body Balance, Body Pump and Body Step’, Humphrey said. The Body Balance helps enabling flexibility and gaining strength. The Body Pump is another exercise that also strengthens and tones the entire body. The Body step is the energizing workout that makes one feel ‘liberated and alive.’ Then there is cycling which is a cardiovascular workout for all levels using stationary bikes. The Fitness First’s special Aerobic packages will help one to relax their muscles, thereby relieving the body’s stress response. The spacious, state-of the-art fitness centre, with cardio equipment, such as treadmills, steppers and elliptical per club, and over three tonnes of weight equipment as well as the stretch area, will be the first of its kind in the city. The grand opening of the club is scheduled for May.”
