The Massachusetts Legislature ended its formal session on July 31st effectively defeating three potentially negative bills for the Bay State’s health club industry. The bills covered a broad range of issues, from personal trainer licensing to membership contracts. “Massachusetts has an active legislature and a large club industry,” says Amy Bantham, deputy vice president of government relations. “One of the greatest concerns is that many other states look to what Massachusetts has done in crafting legislation. Therefore, stopping negative bills here and in California, is nationally important as these states tend to be in the forefront of legislative trends.”....
