Fiserv Might Make a New Acquisition

“During a conference call on the subject of Fiserv's first-quarter earnings report, Jeffery W. Yabuki, the Brookfield, Wis., technology vendor's president and chief executive, said that the majority of the needed products they already had in US, and the international markets offered a great opportunity for growth. So Fiserv Inc. may fix its eyes on countries outside of USA to make next big acquisition. According to Yabuki Fiserv’s operation region already includes 60 countries in such areas of business as risk management, account and payment processing. The company now is looking for ways to grow, make an acquisition internationally. The deal of Fidelity National Information Services Inc.'s planned acquisition of Metavante Technologies Inc. was announced last month and expected to be closed next quarter. As Yabuki said Fiserv would try to capitalize on that deal. 17 months ago Fiserv purchased he Atlanta online payment processor CheckFree. This purchase helped the company to increase the number of online services for banks. As Yabuki said Fiserv’s management believed that the majority of expansion was done with the purchase of Atlanta’s CheckFree. As Yabuki predicted Fidelity faces a lot of ‘pick and shovel work’ integrating with Metavante. So, Yabuki hopes that others in the industry will not be so concentrated externally as Fiserv will be.”
