Life Time Fitness President Michael Gerend To Depart

“Michael Gerend, president and chief operating officer of Life Time Fitness Inc., is leaving the company May 1, according to a company press release. Gerend been in his job since 2003, when he joined the Chanhassen-based fitness chain. Previously, he was president and CEO of a charter airline called Champion Air and before that he held numerous management positions at Northwest Airlines Inc. Lifetime (NYSE: LTM) did not say why Gerend is leaving. The current executive team will be assuming Gerend’s current responsibilities. ‘During his tenure, Mike played an instrumental role in building and expanding the strong leadership team ... and in turn the growth and performance we achieved,’ said Bahram Akradi, Life Time’s chairman and CEO.”
