Department Of Consumer Affairs Charges New York Health & Racquet Club Hid Fees For 'Free' Services

“The city is forcing the New York Health & Racquet Club to shape up. The expensive exercise joint promised New Yorkers free yacht rides and golf outings if they joined last spring, but then socked members with fat fees hidden in fine print - a no-no under city rules, according to the Department of Consumer Affairs. Now the club faces $20,000 in fines and must tell 5,600 members this week that they can cancel their contract without any penalty - a move that could cost $150,000, DCA estimated.”...
