Gaining Strength: Precor Opening Having Ripple Effect Throughout Triad

“While their industry has been soaked by the tidal wave of the recession, several Triad manufacturers are enjoying the welcome ripple effects of the opening of the new Precor fitness equipment factory in eastern Guilford County. The new facility in Rock Creek Center is open and undergoing its pilot production runs now, just a year after the first announcement that the Washington State-based firm had chosen the site for its $26 million, 225,000-square-foot factory, built by Winston-Salem-based Landmark Builders. Precor is expected to employ 142 people there by 2011. About 44 people have already been hired, said plant General Manager Bill Banczak, and he expects to be at around 100 employees by mid-year.
